These are a few of the locations I like to use for photographic sessions in the local area, but I am always open to any suggestions you may have.
When choosing a location, try to bare in mind:
Ease of access.
Current ground condition.
Practicallity for your breed of dog.
Where the sun rises and sets.
Will the area be busy at the time of the shoot?
(and for beach shoots) take a look at the tidal times, as low tide will give us more options and flexibility when shooting.
The two photographs of Pevensey Castle in East Sussex above were taken on the same day but at different times. The one on the left, around lunchtime, and the other during what professional photographers refer to as 'the Golden Hour'. This is roughly speaking the first hour of light after sunrise, or, as in the case of the photo above, the last hour of light before sunset, although the exact duration varies between seasons. During these times the sun is low in the sky, producing a soft, diffused light which is more flattering than the harsh light of the midday sun.
